Things to Do in Tunisia:
Given Tunisia has a diverse group of environments, from the Atlas Mountains in the north, to the sandy beaches along the eastern coastline, to the expanse of the Sahara Desert, finding a place to spend your cheap holidays in Tunisia will be one of the hardest decisions you will have to make when planning a cheap holidays in Tunisia.

For a relaxing, no interference holiday, planning a stay in some of the inland cities such as Douz, Tozeur, Gafsa or Kebili will give travelers a perfect view of the Sahara Desert and all it has to offer, with camel and 4x4 trips to various hotels and oases. To plan an inland holiday means basking in the sun next to natural swimming pools with no contact to the outside world, a complete escape holiday.

If you desire a holiday filled with historical and architectural wonders, planning a cheap holiday in Tunisia would include such cities as Carthage, Tunis, Sousse, Matmata or Le Kef. These cities, and others, are home to some of the finest historical monuments and ruins the likes of which are found nowhere else in the world. Monuments like the Ribat of Sousse, circa 850, where Muslims first utilized ribbed vaulting over 200 years before Europe. Another landmark of note would be the Medina of Tunis, a neighborhood of networking streets and buildings; sending visitors back to a distant time with most buildings there being built between the 12th and 16th centuries. However, both Tunis and Carthage offer not just history but a more cosmopolitan side as well. Located on the shore of the Mediterranean Ocean, these two cities offer beach resorts, which make available to travelers a variety of activities for both the sedate traveler and the more adventurous. Activities like surfing, water-skiing, boogie boarding, parasailing, horseback riding, hiking, quad biking or simply renting a moped and touring the various towns at your leisure, Tunisia’s many resorts and hotels offer more than enough to engage even the most jaded of travelers. If you prefer the nightlife, Hammamet is home to the Grand Casino of Tunisia which offers gambling, drinking, dining and dancing until the wee hours of the morning.

Though most hotels and resorts in Tunisia have a restaurant attached, don’t be afraid to venture out to whatever city you are staying to enjoy some of the local fare. A typical Tunisian meal might be a blend of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and North African, as well as some Western European thrown in for good measure. Meals will be heavy with seafood along the coast while the inland cities will be more chicken, beef and vegetables. Most Tunisian cuisine will share two qualities, however, and that is olive oil, a major export of Tunisia, and fresh bread and heavy spices. Meals there are an event, a celebration with the family enjoyed over an extended evening, not to be rushed, but to be savored.

When planning your next getaway, whether you’re alone, a couple or a family, include Tunisia as a destination of choice, as it offers cheap holidays with a variety of things to see and do for every traveler.
