Holidays in Sousse: As one of the largest cities in Tunisia, Sousse will have more to offer than some of the other cities in the country, but make take care not to confuse larger with less hospitality. Surpassed in size by only Tunis and Sfax, Sousse has hotels and attractions galore, ready to entertain and overwhelm you with the rich mixture of historical sites and modern day services. Named a world heritage site in 1988 by UNESCO, Sousse will charm you with its willingness to preserve the past while still progressing to meet the needs of its guests and residents.

To arrive in Sousse, the best airport to land would be the Skanes-Monastir International Airport. Once there, a taxi, train or bus is readily available directly to Sousse. To get around town, while taxis are readily available, tuktuks, which are technically supposed to be a motorized rickshaw type vehicle but in actuality is a tourist train that makes numerous stops along its route, allowing you to ride it directly to your hotel. When planning a shopping excursion in Sousse, be on the lookout for the wares for which the city is best known: Carpets and dyed cloth, porcelain, traditional furniture, copper goods, leather goods, jewelry and olive oil. Haggling is expected in the shops so don’t accept the first price given.

As one of the oldest cities in Tunisia, built in approximately the 11th Century, Sousse gives visitors the opportunity to walk amongst the ruins of an ancient civilization as well as the more contemporary buildings outside the medina. Sousse is also home to a lush olive grove of more than 2500 square kilometers, a lively seaport opening to the town center, alabaster beaches and the blue, blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea. With 120 hotels and resorts, locating accommodations should render no problems when planning a cheap holiday in Sousse, so the hardest decision will probably be not what to do but where to stay, for the coast of Sousse is lined with luxury resorts and too much sunshine. One such resort might be the Marhaba Royal Salem Hotel and Resort, with 316 rooms on two floors, accessible by two panoramic lifts. Most rooms have a balcony or terrace overlooking the sea, the garden or the pool and each room has a private bathroom as well. For your dining pleasure, the Marhaba has six restaurants from which to choose, depending on the type of cuisine you prefer, with a barbecue restaurant directly on the beach, a short walk from the hotels. For your leisure time pursuits, the hotel offers to its guests, as it is an all inclusive resort, three outdoor swimming pools as well as one indoor pool. Also offered are a selection of water sports such as skiing, parasailing, scuba diving and a Jacuzzi. For land based activities offered either included with the all-inclusive room rate or for an extra fee, there is archery, tennis, mini golf, pétanque, a fitness salon or a beauty salon, to name but a small portion of all that is at the Marhaba.

White, sandy beaches, food aplenty as well as drinks, leisure activities that can fill your every waking moment and evening entertainment and dining that will meet or exceed your expectations; the Marhaba Royal Salem Hotel has much to recommend itself and a cheap holidays to Tunisia at this hotel will stay with you for a lifetime.
