Sharm History and Tradition:
History and tradition is very often a basic factor before many people's decision before going on holidays. Sharm el-Sheikh can be praised not only for its breath-taking beaches and warm climate, it also boasts of several beautiful
holiday destinations that are considered as living proof of
Egypt’s rich history and tradition. Tourism authorities had been able to preserve and showcase the traditional Bedouin lifestyle in the famous Bedouin village located south of Sharm. This site is a living reminder of the rich history and tradition of the Bedouin tribe, said to be the ancestors of the people of Sharm el-Sheikh and a large part of the Middle East. The Bedouin village is a usual stop in holiday tour
packages to Sharm.

History has it that the 14 different Bedouin tribes in Egypt lived in many parts of the Middle East and held four different names. In the Biblical account, Bedoiun people are nomadic people and, thus, have greatly influenced the tradition and culture of most of the Middle East.
Sharm el Sheikh takes great pride in preserving the Bedouin customs and traditions handed over from generation to generation. Among these is the practice of arranged marriages which similar to the ones in other Muslim countries, only that Bedouins usually trade brides for camel!
Traditional activities have been similarly continued as a valued practice. Some of these traditional practices are climbing Mount Sinai and trekking its steep steps to reach the peak. Described in the Bible as a great mountain where Moses talked to God and delivered his flock, the mountain has 3,750 steps hewn out of stone by the monks of St. Catherine’s Monastery. On reaching the top, a breathtaking view of the whole Sharm makes all the effort worth it. Yet the most interesting about Sharm is how it blends the history and traditions of three diverse cultures: that of the Christians, the Muslims and the indigenous tribes. Being able to understand the diversity of Sharm’s history can only be satisfied when one has visited and interacted with its amazing culture and traditions.
