The sharks have a walkway built into their tank affording visitors to see sharks in their habitat from a more personal location. They also host several shows each day utilizing a number of their animals, including some Orcas obtained from Sea World in 2006. Loro Parque is devoted to animal preservation and conservation and is a major rehabilitation center for animals with several of their primates and big cats at one time part of the black market or suffering from problems at prior zoos or habitats. Another fantastic site to visit, while in Puerto de la Cruz, would be the Bananera El Guanche, the local banana plantation that gives each guest, at the end of each tour, free banana liquor and bunch of bananas. Also, there are many historical churches and buildings, such as the Old Customs House or Casa de la Aduana, or the Castillo San Felipe.
