Holidays in Protaras:
Nearby the quiet town of Paralimni is the growing tourist resort of Protaras. Not long ago it was plain scrubland, sand and beach but now it has acquired an appearance with greater affinity to Las Vegas than a small town or a Grecian village. Protaras has developed to be a favorite cheap holiday’s destination too fast for its own good, yet fortunately some of the scrubs remain as well as the golden beach – reputed to be one of the finest in the whole island.

One of Ayia Napa’s satellite resorts, Protaras attracts British families and every other kind of tourist on their cheap holidays in Cyprus alike. Lining the waterfront are a multitude of holiday accommodations offering a wide range of facilities and amenities. More importantly, most hotels have come up with interesting ways of keeping the children occupied while their parents have some fun on their own under the sun. There are also many water sports available, and you could choose from mild water activities to more thrilling pursuits such as water skiing and paragliding.

Protaras might not have the great architectural ruins of the other Cyprus towns and its structures may not be stunning at all, but nonetheless it has some good points. Aside from the still existent golden beach and the clear Mediterranean waters, Protaras's nightclubs, discos, bars and restaurants are some of the island's best as well. The hotels may not look too grand from the outside but even so, services and food offered are on the luxurious side.

On the outskirts of Protaras is a church atop a rugged cliff. Named the Church of Ayios Ilias, its walls are made out of stone blocks. This religious site is small yet attractive, and the top offers a stunning panoramic view of the whole town and the surrounding countryside.
