Praia Da Rocha holidays:
Praia Da Rocha literally means “Rock Beach” named after the tall limestone cliffs that shelters its beaches long stretch of golden sand. This area was one of the first to be developed in the Region when tourism started to boom way back in the 60s. Praia da Rocha is actually the seafront area of the town of Portimao. Hence, the beach is the main attraction of this resort. The cliffs are very distinct and breathtaking especially if seen from afar and during sunsets. Families will enjoy identifying the different rock formations like the “Three Bears”, “Two Brothers”, and “Indented Rock”. Also, take a picture with the little caves and caverns on the beach. The other ends of the beach are tunnels that connect all the beaches of the whole resort.

The resort also has a Marina with all the boats and yachts for everyone to use for sailing, yatching, boating trips and other water sports. Families that can proceed to the Zoo Marine to witness a spectacular dolphin show.

For some historical and cultural activity on the beach, visit the Fortress of Santa Catarina de Ribamar which is situated at the end of the beach and at the mouth of the river. This is the famous landmark of the whole village that existed for more than five centuries. This fortress which also houses a chapel was used for defending the region from pirate attacks.
