If you prefer a side trip that is a little more sedate, perhaps a day spent at the Friguia Zoo in nearby Sousse would be more to your liking. Though it is a small zoo, the animals are extremely well cared for and for a fee one of the zookeepers will take your camera into the enclosure and shoot closer snaps of the animals.

One of the hotels in Port El Kantaoui is the Hotel Riu Imperial Marhaba, a five star resort located right on the beach. With an assortment of water-based sports such as jet skiing, parasailing and scuba diving, with a trained staff on hand should you require scuba lessons, finding things to do in the water will present no challenge. If you’d rather take part in land based activities, the resort has them in abundance, including bike and quad rental, the quad rental bringing with it a tour guide and a two-hour tour, tennis and lawn bowling to name but a few. Also near the marina is a grouping of restaurants, cafes and shops, allowing visitors to dine in the evenings, if they so desire, from a sidewalk café, watching the world pass them by as they do so.
