Porches holidays:
Do you want to spend your cheap holidays in Algarve in a more relaxed and quieter resort? Especially during the peak season for tourism when thousands of tourists crowd the famous coastal resorts, there is a special place in Algarve for families and couples to enjoy. This resort is called Porches, a small village that is relatively untouched by modernity and tourism developments. This village is only 40 minutes from the Faro International Airport and 10 kilometers away from the center of Lagoa town.

Although it is unexploited compared to other resorts, it still has facilities for its tourists specifically hotels, villas and apartments. What is missing in Porches are streets all lined up with bars restaurants and cafes. Though there are some restaurants and cafes in the area, they are not clustered that tend to become noisy especially at night. There are luxury accommodations in Porches with wide outdoor gardens and panoramic views of the seas below. For those on Cheap holidays, there are also some bed and breakfasts available.

So what can you do while staying in Porches? Of course, the beach! It may be tucked a little bit on the interior; the beaches are still near even on walking distance. A must is the Fort of Nossa Senhora Da Rocha or commonly known as “Porches Castle” with a shrine dedicated to Our Lady of the Rock. A must see is their historical parish church of Ingreja Matriz that has been around since the 16th century. Spend the afternoon at the old Roman village of Roman Velhos with houses that have old chimneys and red bricked roofs.

Lastly, never miss checking out the pottery and ceramics industry of Porches in which this town is famous for. You may be lucky to observe a local artisan molding and creating the ceramics for a more educational experience in the village. Better yet, just purchase a few ceramics that represents the sea; ceramics are usually colored blue, green and turquoise.
