Platanias combined quiet solitude and upbeat nightlife in just one destination. The resort is found in the western part of Crete and nearby is Chania City which is juts 10 kilometers away. The village is famous for its sandy beach with clear waters and lively nightlife with lots of activities in stored for everyone on all inclusive holidays.
To get to Platanias, there are connecting flights from Athens to Chania or Heraklion domestic airports. The only way to get to Platanias village from the airports is by taxi or car hire. Likewise, there are ferry rides that can take tourists from other Greek islands and even from Italy. This is a great way to truly experience the Mediterranean; hop from one Greek island to the other.
Platanias is still a very small village resort, hence there are no big and massive hotels constructed in the area. There are few accommodations in this small resort but the rates very affordable even those rooms and studios situated right in front of the beach.
But this doesn’t mean that tourists can’t haveluxury holidays in Platanias. Aside from smaller hotels and studios privately run by local families, there are private villas that are equipped with elegant facilities and amenities. These villas are sophisticated with private pools and garden that will truly relax all its guests.
For such a small resort, there are plenty of things to see and do in Platanias. Here are some of them: Island excursions, minigolf; night activity in the resort accompanied with soft music and drinks, water sports like wake boarding, water skiing, bananaboat ride and parasailing, paintball. Aside from these activities, tourists can have a historical tour in the museums of Chania city or just stroll around the place. There are Venetian churches and other historical sites to visit.
