On the western side of the island of Cyprus lies the charming town of Paphos (also spelled as Pafos), a coastal area with a picturesque environment lined with fresh seafood restaurants and a shoreline filled with fishing boasts and yachts. A relatively small town with merely 28,000 people, Paphos nests on the western foothills of the Troodos Mountains, which offers yet a new dimension to a splendid scenic beauty.

Among the other brilliant places to visit are the following: the Maa-Paleokastro which offers a very admiring view of sites where the Mycenaean Greeks first landed the island, the sandy beaches of Lara which are said to be one of the last Mediterranean nesting grounds for green and loggerhead turtles, the Polis area which provides the basic lifestyle and an interesting exploration of the countryside, and the Chrysorrogiatissa monastery where you can take a sip of locally produced vintage wine – a great stop before you go further inland on wine tours of the villages.

Paphos offer a wide variety of activities too – from a round of golf at a premier resort, different water sports including diving and sailing, to thrilling rides at the water park or a lap round the karting center.
