The stoa was built in 200 BC and is 87 meters in length, consisting of 42 columns. An interesting archeological artifact is the Propylaea of the Sanctuary, which dates back to the 4th century BC; it has an expansive staircase leading to a D-shaped stoa standing in front of a wall with door openings. The Castle of the Knights of St. John may probably be the youngest structure in the acropolis. It was built in 1317 on top of the older Byzantine fortifications. Beside the castle in the Greek Orthodox Church of St. John which may have been built in the 6th century.
