Elounda holidays:
It is a small fishing town found on the bay of Elounda, a northern coast of the island of Crete. Elounda is very popular to European tourists and has many available hotels to offer. It is also the closest major town of Spinalonga, a former leper colony that is located on an island officially named Kalydon. The Kalydon is located at the near entrance of the Bay of Elounda and the town is close to the city of Agios Nikolaos and the village of Plaka. The town itself maybe small for a tourist spot but it is part of Greece’s ancient history; a focus on travels in this place is for tourists to take note.

The best way of getting to Elounda is by getting a flight on Heraklion International Airport. It is also Greece’s second busiest airport after Athens. Elounda is about 80 km distance from Herakleion Airport and the journey is about 60 to 75 minutes by car or taxi. It is after all the primary airport on the island of Crete, Greece and named after a Heraklion native Nikos Kazantzakis. He is a famous Greek writer and philosopher of Greece.

Another way of getting there is by taking a bus ride. Buses are always available daily and they go to Agios Nikolaos and followed by connecting buses to Elounda. It may take time but the rides usually are fast depending on the schedules.

Major ferry lines are operated on the port of Herakleion and they are always available, connecting with any bus services at the main bus station found near to the port. Ferries can run to the nearby town of Agios Nikolaos via lane lines from Pireaus and Rhodes. Usually slow, but the ride can both be relaxing and fun.

Elounda is famous for its luxury hotels some of the them are the most expensive in Greece. They attract many celebrities from all over the World every year.
