For some unique reason, a few towns in the island of Fuerteventura have two names. This is very common in Fuerteventura. That includes El Castillo which is also known as Caleta de Fuste. Both names though are used interchangeably. El Castillo is a small, horseshoe shaped, sheltered bay just a few minutes away from the airport of Fuerteventura.

Before the turn of the century, El Castillo was relatively small as compared to its size today which is more than twice larger and with springing hotels here and there, along with numbers of flights, apartments, bars, restaurants, clubs and each and every kind of Cheap holidays facilities and amenities you could think of. This growth is to accommodate the growing number of tourists in the island. Even a huge golf resort is now open in El Castillo.

The bays of El Castillo are good for beginner surfers where you could find the lighter winds as compared to the rest of the island. It's a good start for them beginners but if you are up for a more thrilling ride you could try the more violent waters in the rest of the beaches in the island. After all, Fuerteventura is famous for surfing reputations.

This little town is getting crowded and more, so just a reminder to be careful in traffic as well as in parking (if you find a space). It is much more recommended to take on cabs rather than rent your own car. Nevertheless, El Castillo is definitely a cheap holidays option from the Fuerteventura destinations.
