Tunisia is Mediterranean climate but on the hotter side. The southern third of the country merges into the Sahara, interesting to visit for a desert experience. The main resorts for holidays in Tunisia – Monastir, Hammamet, Skanes, and Sousse – are centred round the Gulf of Hammamet which is on the east side of Tunisia. The other big resort of Djerba is further south, and is a little island connected to the mainland by a causeway and a ferry.

The country of Tunisia has a Muslim background so this is not the place to go if you want vivid nightlife. However if you want sun, sea and sand, then you will get this aplenty during your holidays in Tunisia. Shop prices are relatively low compared to Europe so there are bargains to be picked up – get a camel that plays a song when you squeeze it, endless fun can be had. In some of the larger resorts bargaining has been reduced and the shops have fixed prices but this is not always the case. Remember to leave the shopkeeper something to live on.
