Marrakech is very colourful. The centre is the main square of Djaa El Fnaa. You can walk through it with ease during the day, just a few stalls. However at night, under the stars, more and more stalls set up, lights are strung along, and the town converges to have a good time watching the entertainments, buying the street-cooked food and generally enjoying themselves. In the daytime, pass straight through the square, admiring the nearby mosque, and head for the souk. The souk is a maze of passages, so if you come to a t-junction or cross-path, clock something to help you remember your way back. Souvenirs abound as well as the usual carpet shops, and there are little manufactories making metal work or wood work. Try and find your way to the herbal pharmacy with its myriad of attractive cures.

If you would like to get out of the sun, go to the Majorelle gardens instigated by Yves St. Laurent for ceramic blue cool and pool. The weather in Marrakech is hot and dusty in the summer and mild in the winter. Although not having a bit rainfall, when it does rain it tends to rain hard and make the town somewhat muddy. The rain is mainly in the winter.
