Gran Canaria has roads surrounding the entire island. The least populated areas are the north and west sides. The beaches are extensive, located mainly in the south and east, and it is famous for its dunes, best seen in Maspalomas. The whole island is a mass of variously protected areas – 6 nature reserves, 2 natural parks, 10 natural monuments, 7 protected areas, and 4 sites of special scientific interest. Head for the Kasbah centre, which hosts lots of clubs and bars, something for every taste. Gran Canaria is fun. And can be educational!

The climate in Gran Canaria is hot, usually not falling below 25°C all year round. In the winter there is more rainfall but usually it is only for a day then the weather returns to the beautiful blue skies and sun.
