Chania holidays:
The second largest city of Crete that is located in the northern coast of the island, Chania is becoming a top local destination. The Chania International Airport is the only airport that the city of Chania can offer and it is located near Souda Bay on the Greek island of Crete. There are daily
flights to Chania from
Athens airports and there are many
hotels for visitors in the town. There are also great resorts outside Chania for
luxury holidays. Chania airport is also called Ioannis Daskalogiannis, a Cretan rebel who was against Ottoman rule in the 18th century. Aside from being an international airport, it is also a military based that is used by NATO.
The ferry services are always available whether by day or night, and sailings between Piraeus and Chania are usually leave early in the evening. The ferry arrives departs at Soudha and there’s a 20-minute bus ride from the stop outside the municipal market. The Chania harbour is unsuitable for large craft and in the busy season, bookings are heavy and frustrating, so it is advisable to have early reservations.
Buses are always available and they run hourly from early morning and there are also less frequent buses to
destinations in western Crete.
The Kastelli Hill is a prominent landform found within the city, which the hill was the center of the ancient and historical city of Kydonia. It covers a significant part of the small plain called Plain of Chania, and it borders with the hilly suburbs of Profitis Ilias, Agios Mattheos and Kounoupidiana facing the east, with the villages of Vamvakopoulo, Nerokourou, Mournies and Perivolia in the south and coastal areas of Chryssi Akti and Agioi Apostoloi. This is the only place where anyone can see and experience the ‘real Crete’ and for the focus on travels for every visiting tourist to note to.
