Holidays in Agia Napa:
Ayia Napa resort of Cyprus boasts of lovely stretches of golden beaches. What used to be just a small fishing village on the southeast of the island's coast, Ayia Napa has now grown to be one of Cyprus's major tourist centers and most popular beach resorts. The little village has only roughly a thousand inhabitants, but during peak seasons on summer, Ayia Napa hosts over ten thousand tourists daily.
Ayia Napa's beaches have the finest sand, and are amongst a chain of boulders which form its cosy bays – a perfect
cheap holidays destination. The Nissi Beach is a favorite though in the middle of the summer you will find yourself in amidst hoards of sunbathers.
But apart from its wealth of
beaches and plentiful beach activities offered, Ayia Napa boasts of a spectacular monastery at the center of town. Within its court is a splendid octagonal fountain which base pictures the life story of its founder – a portrait of himself and a woman, alongside her parents who forbid their marriage. At the gate is an old Sycamore tree believed to have lived past 600 years and still continues to thrive till today. Other traces of the town's rich cultural heritage include the small waterfront chapel of Agios Georgios.
The town used to be famous for its very playful nightlife most especially for the party hungry people. Recently, Ayia Napa has cleaned up this Ibizan reputation and is now very much family oriented. Located in town is a massive water park with a variety of fun slides and different rides. It has a theme of "Ancient Greece" and is fast becoming favored by families with children. The numerous
hotels of the area offer facilities and amenities for all visitors needs.
Ayia Napa's shops bring great pleasure for all with real bargains offered even on designer goods. Cyprus for shopaholics is indeed gratifying because Ayia Napa's business minded locals make it possible for them to get top name products at prices up to 30% cheaper than in UK. There is also an assortment of restaurants in town where you could choose from your most favorite cuisine including local delicacies.
