Cheap holidays in Zante.
Filled with the warm rays of the Greek sun, Zantes is a welcome mix of sandy
beach holidays, Greek history, brilliant scenery and an amazing nightlife. Zante enjoys three different types of landscape with most of the island being beaches, sand and coastline while the western end of the island is mountains and sharp cliffs while the southeast if fertile plains.
Scuba diving is the primary draw for tourists to the island and Zante offers some of the most beautiful underwater flora and fauna in the world. For the more adventurous, there is a tremendous amount of scuba/cave exploring and numerous agencies on the island offer this feature.
One of the most famous features of the island is the influx of loggerhead turtles to the southern beaches during the month of June, when female turtles lay their eggs, and again in August for the emergence of the hatchlings.
On the island are several tour companies offering short
cruises to Shipwreck and Smuggler’s Cove, two locations with beautiful beaches, hidden from the world by virtue of the surrounding cliffs. Perhaps, though, you prefer a tour that stays on land so an island tour will be more to your liking. The island tours take guests through traditional Zante villages and olive groves affording you the chance to purchase the wares of local artisans, things like embroidery, lacework, pottery and honey.
The food on Zante varies slightly by region, the island has some wonderful wines made there, usually semi-dry, and the cheeses, local dishes, and sweets are sure to please the most discriminating of palates.
The coast of Zante is rife with
hotels and resorts offering a full line of aquatic and land based activities. The majority of hotels will have a swimming pool, restaurants, bars and shopping should venturing beyond the boundaries of your hotel intimidate you. Zante also encourages camping on the island having several campgrounds and beaches for partaking of this activity.
Most of the inns and hotels there will be self-catering but with the array of restaurants, dining shouldn’t prove a problem.
