Tenerife Sights and Monuments:
The history of the island is still in existence and awaiting your arrival when planning your long awaited next holiday in Tenerife. In Santa Cruz, the capital of Tenerife, are a number of monuments and historical ruins such as Iglesia de Nuestra Senora de la Concepción, Tenerife’s first parish church, commissioned by the island’s governor in 1496, with the location being significant to Corpus feast day.

Puerto De La Cruz has a great deal to offer in the form of the botanical gardens on the outskirts, founded in 1788. The gardens are home to a large number of trees and plants from the four corners of the world, with the climate of Tenerife being conducive to growing this variety. Along the same lines as the Botanical Gardens is Loro Park, which is also a botanical, tropical garden but it is also home to the largest collection of parrots found anywhere. Also on the north coast, near Puerto de la Cruz is the Jardín Tropical Bananera El Guanche. As part of the walking tour guests will be shown a video of producing bananas, including some little known facts and tips, like how to choose the ripest banana. At the end of each tour, each visitor is given some banana liquor and a bunch of bananas.

For a unique experience, located in the Playa de las Americas, is a new sort of recreation called Bob diving. Similar to scuba diving, but with a diving bell over your head, Bob Diving gives guests the opportunity to get up close and personal with the beautiful fish and underwater flora and fauna of the Atlantic Ocean, over the course of a typical 1.5 to 2 hour dive. Don’t forget to bring your underwater camera!

If shopping is more your style, there are a number of shops you won’t want to miss. One such shop is the Casa Torrehermosa, better known as The Island Craft Company, a craft emporium operated by the Empress Insular de Artesania del Cabildo de Tenerife, is home to locally made crafts and keepsakes. Part of the emporium is a museum with artisans displaying creating their wares utilizing local tradition. Another shop you may wish to visit would be The Tenerife Pearl, a 1500 square meter outlet store devoted to pearls and other jewelry. Situated in Armenime, the center sells and displays pearls from around the world as well as those harvested locally. Jewelry with silver, gold, and precious stones are sold alongside the pearls.

When planning cheap holidays to Tenerife , there is a wealth of things to see and do. However, if all you wish is to lounge by the pool of your hotel and absorb the warm sun, Tenerife offers that as well, in excess.
