Santorini holidays:
A hotspot in tourism, the Santorini archipelago south of Greece, can be explosively amusing. Sitting above volcanic plates at the depths of the Aegean sea, Santorini is a collection of small volcanic islands that make up one of the most visited areas in this part of Europe. It is an interesting and lively place where fun can range from mild to extreme. As you discover Santorini, you will realize why it is sometimes called half of the legendary Atlantis, the island known in ancient history to have sunk after a huge volcanic explosion. Santorini offers a unique holiday treat where each day is a new opportunity to explore.

You will see that Santorini is a product of a great geological phenomenon with its black and red beaches. The best places to swim can be found in the resort villages of Monolithos, Vlichada or Agrios Georgios. Here, the black sand complement beautifully with gray, rocky edges surrounding the beach. The sand is smooth, unlike in other beaches in Santorini where stones can spoil a good swim. In upland villages of Fira, Imerovigli or Oia, the landscape can be breath-taking. It also has full of traditional taverns, coffee shops, restaurants with delicious food and shopping centers for souvenir items. Restaurants, karaoke bars and disco line up the old alleys of Monolithos and Amoudi .

Other volcanic islands offer a great adventure. A trek to the rocky hills surrounding the tiny villages in Kamari can be exhilarating. In Fira, a folklore museum will take you through the history of Santorini, dating back to the great volcanic eruption that inundated the rest of the archipelago. There is also the citadel built in the Middle Ages, and the ancient church of Ag Mina that many tourists visit. A yearly music festival attracts many visitors to the island in the month of September, which is the best time to visit Santorini.

Santorini is connected to most of Cycladic Islands, making it a good place to start your cheap holiday journey to the great islands of Greece. Santorini is also connected with the major UK Aiports offering a wide range of cheap flights and quality cheap hotels.
