Cathedral of Saint John and Palace of the Grand Masters
These grand structures made from local limestone dominate the skies in the capital city of Valetta and was built by a group of knights during the Crusades called the Knights of Malta or Knights of Saint John of Jerusalem. Their tombs lie in the cathedral.

Prehistoric temples
There are many megalithic stone structures in Malta that are similar to the Stonehenge. The Manadjra Temple is shaped like a cloverleaf and believed to have been built 6000 years ago. Across it is the Ggantija Temple; the temple of Hagar Qim is characterized by huge chambers of limestone.

Natural Harbours

Dome Church
As a Catholic country, Malta has many wonderful churches and one of these is the Parish Church of Our Lady of Assumption. This church is famous both architecturally but also historically. This church is one of the largest unsupported domes in the world but it is more famous due to its legendary bombing incident during World War II. A bomb hit the church but it never exploded, until now visitors can still see the unexploded bomb inside the church.

Gozo Island
Gozo is another famous island in Malta. The whole island is a famous tourist spot as the island of the enchantress Calypso who lured the Greek hero Odysseus and his men for many years. The island also has many historical structures like he Gran Castello, a 17th century citadel built by the Knights of Malta.
