Crete flights to Crete.
By air and by sea
Crete has three airports, the Nikos Kazantzakis at
Heraklion, the military airport Daskalogiannis at Chania and a new public airport in Sitia.
The other way is to get to Crete is by boat. The ferry services are always available from Athens to Iraklion,
Rethimnon and
Hania and from Thessaloninki and the Cyclades to Heraklion. Much more, there are many ferry schedules to and from Crete to accommodate all passengers especially during peak season.
Moving around
After arriving in Crete, it is time to get around it and one way is by renting a car.
Car hire is an easy way of exploring the island, as long as a driving license is present and also the insurance is needed to check comprehensively. The insurance on cars doesn't usually cover the underside of the car, or damage to tires.
Another mean of transport is bus. Using a bus is fairly frequent and timetables are quite trustworthy. Bus drivers are usually diverted from their marked routes to enter little villages depending on their schedules. Bus services along the north coast and towards the south coast are excellent, reliable, frequent and of course cheap.
